That the first wife of Sylvester J Deputy the late husband of the Claimant was named Elizabeth Carpenter, that said Elizabeth Carpenter died on a farm near Milton, County of Sussex, State of Delaware, on the thirty-first day of July 1822, in proof of which the affiant presents the following extract copies from the record of Deaths of a family Bible formerly in the possession of the said Sylvester J Deputy, which Bible is now in the custody of the affiant.
'Betsey the Wife of Sylvester J Deputy deceased this life July 31st 1822
That the above record is written in the hand writing of said Sylvester J Deputy with which the affiant is familiar, that the date on which said Bible was published is one-thousand-eight-hundred and seventeen (1817) - and the affiant further declares that she was intimately acquainted with the late Sylvester J Deputy and knew him as the lawful husband of the claimant .... Affidavit of (dau) Maria S Smith, Aged 66 years. Dated 18 Sep 1878.

Widow Elizabeth Bartlett Deputy married Sylvester in Phila,PA, 23 Aug 1841, and has two children by this marriage, Henry S Deputy and Nunes J Deputy. Affidavit of Jos. M Smith, Aged 65, and Mary Maze, Age 70. Dated 28 Sep 1878.

Sylvester J Deputy served as a musician in the Delaware State Volunteers, enlisted at Milton, Delaware, 16 Mar 1813, and marched for Lewistown, Delaware. About 1859, Sylvester J Deputy received a land warrant,. (son) Henry S Deputy saw the land warrant and it was for 160 acres and the agent/attorney who procured the warrant was named Hazzard and lived at Milton or Milford in the State of Delaware. [2] Affidavit of (widow) Elizabeth B Deputy and (son) Henry S Deputy. Dated 08 Jan 1879.

The second wife of Sylvester J Deputy was named Sarah Coverdale, and she died at Milton in the County of Sussex and State of Delaware on the eighteenth day of February 1841, in proof of which the affiant presents the following extract copied from the record of Death of a family Bible formerly in the possession of the said Sylvester J Deputy, late husband of the Claimant in this case, and which Bible is now in the custody of the affiant.
Sarah Deputy late wife of Sylvester, departed this life February eighteenth 1841, aged sixty years and ten days
That the above record is in the handwriting of the said Sylvester J Deputy, which is familiar to the affiant, that the publisher's date of the printing of said Bible is one-thousand-eight-hundred and thirty-four (1834). Affidavit of (son) Henry S Deputy, Aged 35. Dated 11 Sep 1878
